Masjid-E-Alamgir

The Masjid-E-Alamgir was built by the Great Mughal Emperor Abul Muzaffar Muhiuddin Muhammad Aurangzeb Bahadur Alamgir I, Padshah Ghazi (Rehmatulla alai) (1658- 1707 AD) in his Deccan/south Indian expedition.
Aurangzeb ruled most of the Indian subcontinent for 48 years, bringing a larger area, especially those in southern India, under Mughal rule than ever before. The Masjid-E-Alamgir is located in Thumrakota village ( Named on his Dynasty Timurid) of Rentachintala Mandal in Guntur Dist of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Alamgir Mosque which is 300 years old required renovation and also some area is under expansion. The land alloted to the Alamgir mosque as per the records of Andhra Pradesh notified Wakf properties survey no: 125 is 5.30 acres and a/c to survery no: 134 some more land is allocated of about 1.92 acres which is under encrochment by other community people. So there is no other revenue option for this mosque. Till now the entire expenses of this Mosque (i.e salaries of Imam, Mohzan and electricity and water bills) were bared by Village muslim community by giving 100/- every month from each family. The strength of the muslim community in the village is 250-300 families, most of them are daily agricultural labourers. Now the extension or renovation works required urgently. The back side of the mosque and the front side four pillers of the mosque were quietly damaged. The extension required because the present structure not sufficient for Jumah Namaz(Friday Prayers). And also in rainy season the rain water is hitting the place of worshippers including IMAM. So the extension is complusory to continue five time prayers in all the seasons. The Villagers who have bared the entire burden of the mosque expenses till not was not in a position to take up the renovation/extension work on their own. The maximum families (250/300) are living below the poverty line. This is the only construnction available for the worshipping in that village. As it is badly damaged, being a villager and educated am contributing my part for building this historic mosque for the benefit of whole muslim community and I request to all my muslim brothers to help their part in completing this mosque construction.
